After the Celebration of Life service for Bianca, the influx of flowers ceased, the phone calls dwindled, and visitors became scarce. Joel and I began to confront the stark reality of Bianca's passing. Emptiness, hollowness, and numbness enveloped us as we grappled with our new existence.

Seeking respite from this altered reality, Joel and I decided to embark on another journey shortly after returning from Hawaii. This time, we yearned to explore a fresh destination, one untouched by our previous adventures and unseen by our children. Despite our desire to revisit Europe, we hesitated due to the sweltering August heat and bustling crowds. Instead, we opted for a destination with French influence closer to home: Quebec.

Our stay at the iconic Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City immersed us in its grandeur, a testament to the city's rich history. Everywhere we turned, reminders of Bianca surrounded us, from the fluttering butterflies outside our hotel to the flavors of the local cuisine. Though Bianca was no longer with us physically, her presence remained steadfast in our hearts.

In homage to Bianca's passion for gastronomy, Joel and I indulged in a memorable dining experience at Tanière3 Restaurant. Accessible only with a secret code, the Dining Room Cellar Experience treated us to an exquisite 8-course meal, each dish a masterpiece that tantalized the senses. The ambiance heightened the magic of the evening, leaving an indelible impression on us.

Our exploration of Quebec extended beyond culinary delights to the natural wonders of the Isle of Orleans. Organic wine tasting at Vignoble Sainte-Pétronille, chocolate sampling at Chocolaterie de l’Île d’Orléans, and cider tasting at Cidrerie Verger Bilodeau offered glimpses into the region's artisanal offerings.

Eager to immerse ourselves fully in Quebec's charm, we toured the Parliament Building, marveled at the majestic Montmorency Falls, and strolled along the picturesque Rue Du Petit-Champlain. Additionally, Joel indulged his love for history by joining a walking tour, delving into Quebec's rich heritage.

Despite the unpredictable weather of late August and early September, alternating between rain, humidity, and cool breezes, our focus remained on experiencing Canada through Bianca's eyes. Quebec, with its blend of old-world allure and contemporary vibrancy, captivated us, serving as a poignant backdrop for our journey of remembrance.

Love you more, my sweet child.
Momma.
